DESCRIPTION:In the excursion to the TenneT BritNed HVDC interconnector\, we will see firsthand how electricity flows between the Netherlands and the UK. This impressive site is all about connecting grids\, boosting reliability\, and making sure energy gets where it’s needed most.\n \nOn this visit\, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the technology that makes high-voltage direct current possible\, and you’ll learn why it’s such a big deal for the energy transition. It’s a chance to see how international cooperation and smart engineering come together in one of Europe’s most advanced interconnectors. \n\nWe will meet in front of Flux on the day of the event at 7:45 to board the bus that will take us to the site. The bus trip will take roughly 2 hours. Lunch will be provided by the company\, and the expected return time to Flux is 17:00 (may change).  The bus will leave at 8:00 so make sure to be on time! \n\n\nAvailability for the trip is not yet decided and may be limited. If that is the case\, Master students will get subscription priority\, followed by Bachelor students and then faculty members. \n\nThis activity is exclusive to Waldur members. Become a member here!

DESCRIPTION:Prodrive is continuously extending their R&D capabilities by building on their technology portfolio that delivers world-class applications. These applications are categorized by their technology programs\, which are: Embedded Computing Systems\, Power Conversion\, Motion and Mechatronics\, Vision and Sensing\, Industrial Automation\, and Contract Manufacturing Services. The exact topic and itinerary of the excursion will be announced later. \n\n\nDuring the excursion\, a tour will be given of the company’s lab facilities and automated production and testing lines. Since this is a DSD Waldur activity\, there will be a focus on products related to power electronics\, electromechanics and high voltage energy systems.  \n\n\nThe visit will start at 15:30 with a presentation\, followed by the tour and a dinner provided by the company. The visit will end at approximately 19:00.  \n\n\nAs Prodrive is situated in the north of Eindhoven\, we will go there by bike. We will gather in front of Flux and leave at 14:30. Further more they do research and due dilligence for governments and large corporations to protect life\, property and the environment.  \nDuring the excusion\, the following topics will be discussed: \n\nPower Failure Investigation Lab\nDSO- Digital System Ops and Presentation of all aspects\, and possibly show the test lab with some ongoing testing.\nHVDC – high voltage direct current & Power systems\n\nWhen registering\, please let us know if you have any food allergies or if you are vegetarian\, so that can be taken into account for lunch.
