DNV & KEMA Excursion: Research, Testing & Certifications

In this excursion to KEMA’s High Power Test facility and DNV’s office in Arnhem, we are seeing the complementary side of engineering (DNV) and testing (KEMA).
DNV is a global company active in sectors such as energy, technology, innovation, and maritime. In these sectors, they do consultancy, certification, power failure investigation (PFI) and more. During this trip, we will meet a few of their experts on topics such as power cables, protection, automation and control, and wind energy. We may even get access to their PFI lab to see how they analyze broken systems.
KEMA Labs, part of CESI SpA, has been a cornerstone in electrical engineering testing and certification in the Netherlands for nearly a century. As one of Europe’s largest testing facilities, they offer a wide range of testing services, including their high-power lab (2100 MVA), four high-voltage test bays (400 kVac), and 2.6 MV impulse generators, emphasizing their expertise and significance in the field.
We will meet in front of flux, and will be leaving Eindhoven at 08:15 for a full-day program in Arnhem, with an expected return by 18:00. Lunch will be provided.
This trip is open to both Waldur and Thor members, but if there are too many signups, Waldur members will get priority. The total number of sign-ups has not been confirmed by the companies yet.
